Alex 500 har to ulike modus:

Fermenteringsmonitor: Måler ekstrakt i vørter og fermenteringsgrad – i opptil 40 ulike brygg på samme tid. Gir grafisk fremstilling av fermenteringsutviklingen i hver tank.

Standard målemodus: For bestemmelse av alkohol, virkelig/orginal ekstrakt, grad av fermentering, kalorier mm. i (nesten) ferdig øl. Alkoholnøyaktighet: 0,2% v/v.

Kalibreres enkelt med deionisert vann.
