Method for cleaning the oxygenation stone
To maintain optimal function and prevent residue buildup in the oxygenation stone, the following cleaning routine is recommended:
To effectively clean the oxygenation stone, rinse it thoroughly in hot water immediately after use to remove superficial wort or yeast residue. Then, wash the stone in a suitable brewing cleaner, such as PBW or another oxygen-based cleaning agent. Mix the cleaning agent according to the manufacturer's instructions, and let the stone soak in the solution for 20–30 minutes before rinsing it thoroughly in hot water to remove all traces of the cleaning agent.
For sanitization, place the stone in a solution of Star San or another suitable sanitizer for at least 5 minutes before use. After cleaning and sanitizing, the oxygenation stone should be completely dried and stored in a clean, dry place until its next use.
If the stone is heavily clogged, you can boil it in water for 10–15 minutes or soak it in a mild phosphoric acid solution to remove residues. Avoid touching the stone's surface with your fingers, as grease from the skin can clog the fine pores.
This cleaning routine ensures that the oxygenation stone functions optimally and remains in good condition for your next brew.
