Brewing equipment – beer brewing gear for homebrewers and microbreweries
Brewing equipment is everything you need to brew beer, from the brewing machine and fermenter to hoses, fittings, measuring tools and cleaning products. Here you will find more than 1600 products for homebrewers, brewing clubs and microbreweries, from brands such as Grainfather, Brewtools, Speidel, Inkbird and Five Star Chemicals, sorted by the steps of the brewing process.
How to choose brewing equipment
Walk through brew day from start to finish and pick equipment for each step:
- Mashing and boiling: a brewing machine mashes, sparges and boils in one vessel. If you brew in a kettle, you need a grain bag or malt pipe, a hop bag and a chiller.
- Chilling: wort should be chilled quickly after the boil. Immersion chillers and counterflow chillers are the most common options.
- Fermentation: you need a fermenter with an airlock. To control temperature, connect a heat mat or fridge to a temperature controller.
- Measuring: a hydrometer measures sugar content before and after fermentation, so you can work out the alcohol content.
- Cleaning: clean with an alkaline cleaner and sanitise with an acid-based sanitiser before anything touches cold wort or beer.

New to homebrewing?
The easiest start is a starter kit, which bundles a fermenter, airlock, siphon, hydrometer and cleaning products. If you brew from extract kits, you do not need a brewing machine. To brew all-grain from malt, a 30–40 litre brewing machine is a good next step. Bottles, caps and cappers are under bottling beer.
Frequently asked questions about brewing equipment
What equipment do I need to brew beer at home?
At a minimum, a fermenter with airlock, a siphon, a hydrometer, a cleaner and a sanitiser, and bottles with caps. For all-grain brewing, add a brewing machine or kettle, a chiller and a hop bag.
What is the difference between a cleaner and a sanitiser?
A cleaner such as PBW dissolves and removes organic residue. A sanitiser such as Star San disinfects equipment that is already clean. You need both.
Do I need temperature control during fermentation?
Yeast performs best within its temperature range. A controller such as the Inkbird ITC-308 runs a heat mat and a fridge and keeps the temperature steady throughout fermentation.
What is Tri-Clamp?
Tri-Clamp is a standard for stainless steel fittings, where two gasketed flanges are held together by a clamp. It is used on brewing machines, tanks and pumps because it seals well, is hygienic and comes apart quickly for cleaning.
