How to choose the right bar glass

The shape of the glass decides how the aroma gathers. Glasses with a round bowl and narrow rim direct the aroma to the nose and suit spirits drunk neat. Straight glasses with a heavy base suit drinks served over ice.

Whisky, neat: The Glencairn Whisky Glass (190 ml) has a wide, rounded base and a narrow rim that gathers the aromas.
Whisky on the rocks: The Whisky O.F. Manhattan (320 ml) has a vertical cut and a solid base.
Long drinks: The Long Drink Glass Manhattan (405 ml), for drinks with plenty of ice.
Stemmed cocktails: The Cocktail Glass Professional (250 ml).
Spirits and liqueurs: Tulip glasses of 185 and 205 ml and a 90 ml grappa glass, with narrow rims that concentrate the aroma.
Cognac and brandy: The Cognac Glass Grandezza (610 ml), with a large bowl that sits comfortably in the hand.
Shots: 45 ml shot glasses, and the Ice Shot Glass Mould, which makes four ice shot glasses at a time.

Frequently asked questions about bar glasses

Which glass should I use for whisky?

For whisky drunk neat, a nosing glass such as the Glencairn works well, because the narrow rim gathers the aromas. For whisky on ice or in a mixed drink, a tumbler such as the 320 ml Whisky O.F. Manhattan is the better choice.

Are the bar glasses dishwasher safe?

According to the product descriptions, the Stölzle Lausitz cocktail, long drink, shot and tulip glasses are dishwasher safe. The Hendi Moscow Mule mug is made of hammered metal with a copper finish and should not go in a hot dishwasher cycle.

How many glasses are in a box?

Stölzle Lausitz glasses are sold in boxes of six identical glasses.

What is the difference between a grappa glass and a tulip glass?

Both have a narrow rim that concentrates the aroma. The 90 ml grappa glass is made for pomace spirits such as grappa and marc. The 185 and 205 ml tulip glasses are larger and used for fruit brandy, liqueur, rum and other spirits.
