Kegerators – fridges with draught tower for beer at home

A kegerator is a fridge for beer kegs with a draught tower on top, so you can pour cold beer straight from the keg. Here you will find the KegMaster XL from Keg King with room for four 19-litre kegs and two to four taps, the Slim Line 15" from HCK for one keg, tower kits and accessories.

How to choose a kegerator

Number of kegs: The KegMaster XL holds four 19-litre, three 20-litre or two 23-litre corny kegs. With 20 or 23-litre kegs there is also room for the CO2 cylinder inside. The Slim Line holds one keg: a 19, 20 or 23-litre corny keg, a 20-litre KeyKeg or a 20 or 24-litre PolyKeg.
Space: The KegMaster XL is 599 mm wide and 638 mm deep. The Slim Line is only 38 cm wide. Both can be freestanding or fitted under a counter.
Temperature: The KegMaster XL has a digital thermostat from −5 to 28 °C, so it also works as a fermentation chamber. The Slim Line has no-frost cooling and a thermostat from 0 to 10 °C.
Complete setup or cabinet only: The FasTap Edition KegMaster XL comes with an air-cooled tower, two, three or four Ultratap taps, MKX CO2 regulator, DMfit fittings, lines, ball lock disconnects, drip tray and castors. You can also buy the KegMaster XL as a fridge only and choose your own tower.

Keg King launched its first KegMaster kegerator in 2009. The fan in the KegMaster XL blows cold air up into the tower, keeping the beer in the lines cold. Three taps and room for four kegs come in the FasTap Edition KegMaster XL with three taps.

Convert your own fridge or freezer

If you already have a fridge or chest freezer, you can build your own kegerator or keezer. The Beer Tap Conversion Kit contains tap, shank, ball lock disconnect and lines for one or two taps. For a tower on top, the FasTap Font Kit comes pre-assembled with Ultratap taps. More taps and shanks are under beer taps and towers.

Kegerator accessories

If your beer foams because the kegerator has 5/16" lines, the Quick Fix anti-foam line kit replaces the beer line with 2 metres of 3/16" line and DMfit adapters. For the KegMaster there is a stainless steel top plate, castors, a wall bracket for the CO2 cylinder and a telescopic adaptor that carries cold air up through a countertop. For bars, the Lindr Combi Cold Bar 50 is a dispensing unit with a chilled storage compartment and flow-through cooling.

How many kegs fit in a kegerator?

The KegMaster XL holds four 19-litre, three 20-litre or two 23-litre corny kegs. The Slim Line 15" holds one keg of up to 23 litres.

What else do I need besides the kegerator?

The FasTap Edition KegMaster XL comes with tower, taps, CO2 regulator, lines and disconnects. You need a CO2 cylinder and corny kegs with beer. If you buy the fridge only, you also need a tower, taps and a regulator.

Why is my kegerator pouring foam?

Wide 5/16" lines give little resistance, so the beer runs too fast and foams. Switch to 3/16" anti-foam line rather than lowering the pressure, otherwise the beer loses carbonation over time.

Can I use a kegerator as a fermentation chamber?

The KegMaster XL has a thermostat from −5 to 28 °C and can be used as a fermentation chamber. It cools but does not heat.

Can a kegerator be built in under a counter?

Yes. Both the KegMaster XL and the Slim Line can be freestanding or fitted under a counter. With the telescopic adaptor, the KegMaster tower can be mounted on the countertop above the fridge.
