Bar and Cocktail – bar tools for the home bar
This page gathers bar equipment for cocktails and serving: shakers, jiggers, strainers, bar spoons, a citrus squeezer and complete bartender sets from Hendi and Lurch, wine accessories from Enolandia and Fermtech, and bar glasses from Stölzle Lausitz. The Hendi tools come from the BarUp range, are made of stainless steel and work both at home and behind the bar.
How to build a home bar
Four tools cover most classic cocktails:
- Shaker for drinks with juice, syrup or egg white. The Hendi Boston Shaker has two steel tins (tin-on-tin) that seal without leaking while you shake.
- Jigger for accurate measuring. The Cocktail Jigger 25/50 ml has two measures and is dishwasher safe.
- Strainer to hold back ice, fruit and herbs. The Hawthorne Strainer has a tight spiral spring and fits over shakers and mixing glasses.
- Bar spoon for stirred drinks. The bar spoon with muddler has a twisted handle and a muddler for crushing fruit, herbs and sugar cubes.
If you want everything at once, the Bartender Tool Kit includes a shaker, measure, bar spoon, strainer and more in a storage roll. It comes in steel, copper and black. For fresh juice there is a citrus squeezer for lemons, limes and small oranges.
Wine accessories
For wine there is a waiter's corkscrew with a two-step lever, a drip stopper and a vacuum pump with four vacuum stoppers that keeps opened wine fresh for up to 14 days. The aPour from Fermtech is a reusable 6-litre wine dispenser that replaces the bag-in-box carton.
Bar and cocktail or bar glasses?
This page brings together tools, accessories and glasses for the bar. If you are only looking for glasses – whisky, cocktail, long drink, shot and cognac glasses – you will find them under bar glasses.
Frequently asked questions about bar tools
What do I need to make cocktails at home?
A shaker, a jigger, a strainer and a bar spoon cover most classic cocktails. You also need ice, suitable glasses and ideally a citrus squeezer for fresh juice.
When should a cocktail be shaken and when stirred?
Drinks with juice or syrup are shaken with ice, such as the Margarita and Daiquiri. Drinks made only with spirits are stirred in a mixing glass, such as the Negroni, Manhattan and Martini. Lurch offers both a Boston shaker with mixing glass and a separate 650 ml mixing glass.
What is a jigger?
A jigger is a double measure for spirits, syrup and juice. The Hendi jigger measures 25 ml on one side and 50 ml on the other, so the cocktail tastes the same every time.
How long does wine keep with a vacuum stopper?
With a vacuum pump and stopper, opened wine stays fresh for up to 14 days according to the maker, because less air in the bottle means less oxidation.
