Hops 5 kg are hop pellets in 5 kg packs for breweries and anyone brewing large volumes. The range covers more than 50 hop varieties from BarthHaas, Hopsteiner, NZ Hops and Yakima Valley Hops, from European aroma hops such as Saaz and Hallertau Mittelfrüh to American, Australian and New Zealand varieties such as Citra, Simcoe, Galaxy and Nectaron.

How to read the hop titles: crop year and alpha acid
Every 5 kg hop has two numbers in its title that change from lot to lot. The year is the crop year, the year the hops were harvested. The percentage in brackets is the alpha acid content of the lot we are currently selling. “Cascade 5kg humle pellets 2025 (7,2%)” means Cascade from the 2025 harvest with 7.2 % alpha acid.
Alpha acid drives bitterness. The content varies between crop years and lots of the same variety. Use the number in the title when you calculate IBU, not an average from a variety chart.
The crop year shows the age. We sell several crop years side by side. The hops are stored vacuum-packed in a freezer room at -18 °C, and hop pellets normally have a shelf life of 5 years from the production date. The production date is usually the year after harvest.
Hop varieties in 5 kg
American aroma hops:Citra, Simcoe, Cascade, Centennial, Mosaic, Amarillo, El Dorado, Idaho 7, Sabro and more.
New Zealand and Australia:Nectaron and Superdelic from NZ Hops, Nelson Sauvin, Motueka, Galaxy, Vic Secret, Ella and Enigma.
European classics:Saaz (CZ), Hallertau Mittelfrüh, Hallertau Hersbrucker, Tettnanger, Perle, Spalter Select and Strisselspalt.
High-alpha bittering hops: Magnum, Columbus, Nugget, Summit and Warrior.
Citra is sold as BBC Pure Hop Pellets, developed by John I. Haas and Boston Beer Company. According to the producer they are milled finer and more evenly than standard T90 pellets and contain less vegetal material. Strata is available in 10 kg.
It is the alpha acid content of the lot we are selling now. Alpha acid gives bitterness, and the content varies between crop years and lots of the same variety. Use this number in your recipe to hit your target bitterness.
What does the year in the hop title mean?
The year is the crop year, the year the hops were harvested. Hop pellets normally keep for 5 years from the production date, which is usually the year after harvest. Hops harvested in 2025 therefore keep until around 2031.
How should I store an opened 5 kg pack?
We store the hops vacuum-packed in a freezer room at -18 °C. Seal an opened pack airtight and put it back in the freezer, as oxygen and heat break down both aroma and alpha acid.
Are the hops available in smaller packs?
Yes, many of the varieties are. Hops for homebrewing are under hop pellets 100 g.
