Keg couplers and accessories – ball lock, line kits and spare parts

How to choose a keg coupler

Gas or beer: A ball lock keg has one post for gas in and one for beer out, and the disconnects are not the same. You need one CO2 disconnect and one beer disconnect per keg. The CMB disconnects are made in Germany.
Connection to the line: Disconnects with 1/4" MFL threads connect to push-fit tubing with an FFL adapter from John Guest or DMfit. Barbed disconnects are used with hose and clamp.
Low profile: The Keg King Low Profile disconnects sit low and suit cramped kegerators.
Check valve: A CO2 disconnect with check valve stops beer from getting into the gas line and regulator.
KeyKeg and PolyKeg: The Krome Dispense KeyKeg coupler with PRV has 5/8" BSP threads. The Lindr G coupler fits brewery kegs with G spear.

Ready-made line kits

The beer line kit with anti-foam line has 1.2 metres of thin LDPE tubing with 3 mm inside diameter, which adds resistance and reduces foam. The push-fit CO2 line kit connects directly to Oxyturbo regulators with John Guest fitting, and a CO2 line kit with reinforced hose is available for regulators with a hose barb. The transfer line kit gives closed transfers from tank to keg with two Low Profile disconnects. The Quick Fix kit converts a kegerator with 5/16" lines to anti-foam line.

Pressure and fermenting in the keg

The Project Brew inline CO2 regulator gives 0–2 bar and lets you run different pressures on each keg from one cylinder. The pressure fermentation starter kit includes a Spundy Compact spunding valve with adjustable pressure.

The O-ring kit has one lid O-ring, two for the ball lock posts and two for the pressure relief valve. Lubricate O-rings with Haynes CIP Film and find leaks with CRC Leak Finder. A stainless steel pressure relief valve and complete lid are also available.

Frequently asked questions about keg couplers

Which ball lock disconnect goes on gas and which on beer?

The CO2 disconnect goes on the gas post, where gas enters the keg. The beer disconnect goes on the post with the dip tube, where the beer comes out. The disconnects do not fit each other's posts.

How do I find a CO2 leak on my keg?

Pressurise the keg and spray leak detector on the lid, posts and disconnects. Where it bubbles, it leaks. Replace the O-ring and lubricate it with keg lube.

Which O-rings do I need for a corny keg?

The O-ring kit covers lid, ball lock posts and pressure relief valve. The dip tube O-ring differs between 9–20 litre and 23 litre kegs.

Can I dispense a KeyKeg with a standard tower?

Yes. Use a KeyKeg coupler with 5/8" BSP and John Guest adapters from 5/8" BSP to the tubing you use. The propellant can be CO2 or air from a compressor.
