Description
Universal Steam Condenser without lid
An efficient steam condenser with specially adapted tri-clamp components for easy assembly and fewer parts to dismantle for faster cleaning.
A steam condenser is a relatively inexpensive and simple tool that eliminates the problem of a brew room full of steam, and a great alternative to an exhaust system with a fan and lots of pipes hanging from the ceiling. Steam condensation is also common practice in most breweries.
The steam condenser is designed so that cold water is sprayed using a full cone nozzle with a 30-degree angle directly onto the steam to condense the steam into water, which then drains out the bottom of the condenser, either into a drain or a bucket. The unit uses approximately 0.6 liters per minute at 4 bar water pressure.
As the steam condenses inside the unit, the steam contracts, creating a vacuum inside the brewing machine and drawing the steam into the unit. This ensures that all steam and DMS are evacuated.
The lid comes with a clamp. There is no need to use the clamp during brewing, as the lid fits tightly and securely. Without the clamp, it is also easy to lift the lid when adding hops along the way.
Instructions:
- We recommend attaching the condenser after the foam during hot break has settled. Feel free to use anti-foam, a defoaming agent.
- Attach the condenser, connected to cold water at the top and a 20mm silicone hose at the bottom to direct the water to a drain or bucket.
- It is important that the water can flow freely downwards, so that no resistance is formed inside the condenser. The open end of the hose must not be submerged in water.
- To add hops and other ingredients along the way, simply lift the lid and add what you want.
By boiling at reduced power, evaporation will also be reduced correspondingly. You should therefore compensate for lower evaporation with a reduced amount of sparge water. For example, with 50 liters of boil volume, you will achieve 3 liters of evaporation at 60% power instead of 5 liters at approx. 10% evaporation per hour.
Water connection:
The steam condenser comes with a 1/2" NPT connection at the top, so you are free to choose what you want to use to connect water. For example, you can mount a hose nipple or Gardena quick connector on this.
