Description
Blichmann AutoSparge – automatic level control for sparging and recirculation
The Blichmann AutoSparge keeps the liquid level in your mash tun constant, fully automatically. A float controls the flow of hot sparge water: when you change the rate at which wort is drained into the boil kettle, the AutoSparge increases or decreases the flow to match. It works for both sparging and wort recirculation, and suits RIMS systems, gravity systems and systems with pumps.
The wort settles gently on top of the grain bed. This reduces channelling and oxygen pick-up and improves extraction. With a constant level over the grain bed, a rotating sparge arm is unnecessary.

Frequently asked questions about the Blichmann AutoSparge
How does the AutoSparge work?
A float follows the liquid level in the mash tun and opens or throttles the sparge water flow, so the level stays constant while the wort is drained.
Which kettles does it fit?
Kettles larger than 12" (approx. 30 cm) in diameter, including converted kegs. It is fitted with a 1/2" NPT thread.
Can I use it with a pump?
Yes. It works with gravity, with pumps and in RIMS systems.
Do I need a sparge arm?
No. With a constant level over the grain bed, a rotating sparge arm is unnecessary.
