Blichmann HERMS Coil Large – heat exchanger for HERMS mashing
The HERMS Coil from Blichmann Engineering is a heat exchange coil in 304 stainless steel for HERMS (Heat Exchange Recirculating Mash System). The coil sits in the hot liquor tank, and wort from the mash tun is pumped through it and back to the mash. This keeps the mash temperature even and lets you step up the temperature without direct heat on the mash.
The Large model fits kettles of 15–55 gallons (55–208 L). It comes complete with weldless bulkheads for easy installation and 1/2" elbow QuickConnector fittings.

What is HERMS?
HERMS stands for Heat Exchange Recirculating Mash System. Wort is circulated from the mash tun through a coil in the hot liquor tank and back. The mash is therefore heated indirectly, via the water around the coil.
Do I need to weld to install the coil?
No. The coil comes with weldless bulkheads, so it can be installed in the kettle without welding.
Which kettles does the Large model fit?
It is made for kettles of 15–55 gallons, which is 55–208 litres.
