Blichmann ThruMometer 3/8" – inline wort thermometer
The Blichmann ThruMometer is an inline thermometer that measures the temperature of the wort as it flows through the hose. It is especially useful with a counterflow or plate chiller: you read the temperature coming out of the chiller and can adjust the flow or cooling water until the wort is at the right temperature before pitching the yeast. The thermometer fits 3/8" hose.
The ThruMometer is made of heat-treated, highly corrosion-resistant aluminium.
Cleaning and storage
- Sanitise before use.
- Clean with a mild detergent and warm water, no hotter than 60 °C.
- Do not leave it in the same bucket as other metals, as this can cause galvanic corrosion of the aluminium.
- Dry thoroughly after use and store in the protective plastic tube.

Which hose fits?
This model fits 3/8" hose. For 1/2" hose there is the ThruMometer 1/2".
Why use an inline thermometer when chilling?
With counterflow and plate chillers, the outlet temperature varies with flow and cooling water. A thermometer in the line shows the temperature directly, so there is no guesswork.
How do I clean it?
Use a mild detergent and water at no more than 60 °C, and sanitise before use. Avoid soaking it together with other metals.
