Description
Quantor MiniChilly 17 – glycol chiller with built-in pump
The Quantor MiniChilly 17 is a compact stainless steel glycol chiller with a built-in pump and a cooling capacity of 1,7 kW. It can handle up to 5 × 240 L fermentation tanks, with one of them on cold crash at a time. The chiller is made for microbreweries, homebrewers and smaller wineries that need cooling.
Please note: This product is only available in Norway.
How to use a glycol chiller with a built-in pump
A chiller with a built-in pump needs one temperature controller and solenoid valve per tank. The valve opens and closes the coolant flow on a signal from the temperature controller. The hose or pipe setup must include a bypass loop, so the coolant can always flow back to the chiller when the solenoid valves are closed. Without a bypass the pump will be damaged, because it runs all the time.
Features
- coolant temperature from −6°C to +30°C
- ambient temperature from +10°C to +32°C
- builds an ice bank at 0°C water temperature, giving extra stored cooling capacity
- cools water down to −6°C with glycol
- a stainless steel coil for direct cooling of liquids can be added as an option, even later
Applications
- passive cooling of fermentation and storage tanks
- cooling of must and wine for pre-clearing and crystal stabilisation
- cooling of rooms and storage halls, with additional fan coils
- direct cooling of liquids with a stainless steel coil (option)
Technical data
- cooling capacity: 1,7 kW (the MiniChilly range comes as 05, 09 and 17, with 0.5–1.7 kW)
- refrigerant: R290
- power: 230 V / 1 phase / 50/60 Hz
- water inlet/outlet: 3/4" male thread (AG)
- material: stainless steel
The chiller is too large and heavy to ship as a regular parcel and is shipped on a pallet. It is made to order, and the price is available on request.
Frequently asked questions about the Quantor MiniChilly 17
How many tanks can the MiniChilly 17 cool?
Up to 5 × 240 L fermentation tanks, with one of them on cold crash at a time.
What else do I need?
One temperature controller with a solenoid valve per tank, and a hose or pipe setup with a bypass loop back to the chiller.
Why is a bypass loop needed?
The built-in pump runs all the time. When all solenoid valves are closed, the coolant must be able to flow back to the chiller, otherwise the pump will be damaged.
What is the ice bank?
At 0°C water temperature, ice builds up around the tubes in the chiller. The ice is stored cooling capacity that keeps the cooling temperature steady for longer when a lot of cooling is needed in a short time.
