Triple Melanoidin is a floor-malted speciality malt from Bonsak Gårdsmalteri in Skogn in Trøndelag, Norway. It gives that unique, malty melanoidin flavour and is a good choice for bocks, Scottish ales, ESBs, porters and many other beers that call for plenty of malt character. At 197 EBC it gives the beer a deep purple hue. The malt ferments out up to 40%, giving lots of colour and flavour without making the beer too sweet.

Bonsak Gårdsmalteri is a farm maltings in Skogn in Trøndelag, Norway. The farmer follows the grain all the way from the field, through the malthouse and on to the brewer. The maltings combines traditional craft with modern technology and uses floor malting, a traditional method that according to Bonsak gives more depth of flavour and aroma than industrial pneumatic malting. The malt is delivered fresh.

What is floor-malted malt?
In floor malting the grain germinates in a layer on a floor and is turned during the process, instead of in large, enclosed industrial plants. Bonsak uses this traditional method because, according to the maltings, it gives more depth of flavour and aroma.
Can I get the malt crushed?
Yes. You choose whole or crushed malt when you order. Malt keeps best uncrushed, so if you have your own malt mill you get the freshest malt by crushing it just before brewing.
