Beer canning – beer cans, lids, can seamers and can fillers

Here you will find what you need to can beer and cider yourself: 330, 440 and 500 ml beer cans in boxes of 24, 202 CDL lids in packs of 320, Oktober Design can seamers and Duofiller and Tapcooler can fillers. The range is made for homebrewers and small breweries canning in short runs. Breweries buying full pallets of cans will find them under beer cans by the pallet.

How to choose a can seamer

The BenchMK has no built-in motor and is driven by an ordinary drill. It comes with a splash guard and adapters for 330 and 500 ml cans with CDL lids.
The SL1 is Oktober Design's motorised seamer for homebrewers, developed from the MK series for professionals. It has a 220 V, 1/4 hp motor and comes with adapters for 330, 440 and 500 ml, a 202 CDL upper chuck and a splash guard.
The Model 7 is a development of the professional MK16v2, with a stainless steel front and larger rollers. The Model 7 and the automatic Model 8 are made to order.

Spare rollers, chucks, 330, 440 and 500 ml adapters, a Tear-Down Tool and a digital caliper for checking the seam are also available.

Filling beer cans

The Duofiller Core (G3) has two filling heads. It purges the can with CO2 and fills to the same level, so one can fills while the other is seamed. One person can run it, with carbonated or still beer.
The Duofiller Mono (G3) has one filling head and fills 250–500 ml cans and bottles up to 500 ml, at about 1 litre per minute at 1.0 bar.
The Tapcooler Nanocanner IM works with the Tapcooler counter-pressure filler for closed filling of cans with 202 lids. It is rated to 1.5 bar.

Which lids fit the beer cans?

The cans take 202 CDL lids, available in standard and black, in packs of 320. The seamer needs a 202 chuck. The SL1 and Model 7 come with one.

What is the difference between the BenchMK and the SL1?

The BenchMK is powered by a drill you already own and comes with 330 and 500 ml adapters. The SL1 has its own motor and also includes a 440 ml adapter.

Do I need a can filler to can beer?

A can filler is not required, but it purges the can with CO2 before filling and fills to the same level every time. That means less spillage and less oxygen in the beer than filling straight from a tap.
