Please note: The professional range is only available in Norway.
Choosing a tank
- Working pressure: A tank used for pressure fermentation, carbonation or pressurised storage must be built for it. Speidel FD tanks are rated for 1.2 or 2.5 bar, while the Speidel FS-MO-3B, L-Inox 650–1500 litres and EnoBeer FCTB60 are built for 3 bar. The EnoBeer FCTB60 is PED certified.
- Flat or conical bottom: In a conical tank (ZKG) the yeast collects in the centre of the cone and is removed through the bottom valve. That makes the tank suitable for both primary fermentation and maturation, like the Speidel FD-2.5B-ZKG 625 litre.
- Unitank or brite tank: A unitank handles fermentation, carbonation and serving in one tank. A brite tank is for storing, conditioning, carbonating and serving finished beer. PMG supplies unitanks from 300 to 10,000 litres and brite tanks from 200 to 10,000 litres.
- Non-pressurised: The Speidel FS-MO is an upright fermentation and storage tank without pressure. The Speidel FO1 has a floating lid and variable capacity, and is used for wine and cider where oxygen control is critical.

Equipment around the tank
The PMG CIP system has a heating element and pump and comes with 1, 2 or 3 tanks of 50–200 litres. For Speidel tanks there is a CIP spray nozzle and a CIP and filling lid. The Quantor Yeast-Booster reactivates and propagates dry yeast, and jacketed tanks connect to a glycol chiller.
Brewery fermentation tank FAQ
What is the difference between a unitank and a brite tank?
A unitank has a conical bottom and covers the whole process: fermentation, maturation, carbonation and serving. A brite tank usually has a flat or slightly sloped bottom and holds finished beer for conditioning, carbonation and serving.
What does ZKG mean?
ZKG stands for zylindrokonischer Gärtank, a cylindro-conical fermentation tank. The yeast collects in the cone and can be removed from the bottom without emptying the tank.
What pressure does a fermentation tank need?
For open fermentation and storage a non-pressurised tank is enough. To ferment under pressure, carbonate or serve from the tank, you need a pressure tank. Most tanks here are rated for 1.2 to 3 bar.
Are the tanks in stock?
No, the tanks are made to order and ship directly from the manufacturer. Contact us for price, configuration and lead time.
