Description

Cooling Pump Kit for Grainfather Conical Fermenter – cooling with ice water

The Cooling Pump Kit consists of a submersible pump, fittings and hoses for a Grainfather Conical Fermenter. The pump sits in a container or cool box of cold water and pumps the water through the cooling jacket on the fermenter. This lets you control the fermentation temperature without a glycol chiller.

As long as the water is colder than the desired wort temperature, this is an effective and affordable alternative to a glycol chiller. The colder the water, the better it works, so it is a good idea to add ice to the water container at the start and top up as needed.

If you want full control regardless of room temperature, take a look at the MiniChilly SB Compatible glycol chiller from Quantor.

Frequently asked questions about the Cooling Pump Kit

How cold can I get the wort?

The wort cannot get colder than the water you circulate. The colder the water, the more effective the cooling. Ice in the water container helps.

Do I also need a glycol chiller?

No. The pump kit works with ordinary cold water and ice. A glycol chiller gives more control and lower temperatures, for example for lagers and cold crashing.

How much power does the pump use?

The pump runs on 12 V and uses 4.8 W.
