Description
15 psi Purple PRV (1 bar) – pressure relief valve for pressure fermentation
This purple pressure relief valve (PRV) from Keg King is an affordable alternative to a spunding valve when you want to ferment under pressure. The valve holds 15 psi (1 bar) and can be used on Apollo, Fermenter King and other pressure fermenters with a replaceable safety valve. It also fits Cornelius kegs.
The valve lifts when the pressure exceeds 15 psi (1 bar) and closes again when the pressure drops below. You will hear a hissing sound during fermentation when using a PRV like this.

Frequently asked questions about the 15 psi Purple PRV
How does the valve work?
It releases gas when the pressure in the tank goes above 15 psi (1 bar), and closes when the pressure drops below. This keeps an even pressure in the tank during fermentation.
Why does the valve hiss?
The hissing is gas escaping when the pressure exceeds 1 bar. It is normal during fermentation.
What pressure should I ferment at?
A typical pressure for pressure fermentation is 0.7–1 bar. Many brewers let fermentation start without pressure for the first couple of days before fitting the valve.
