Apollo 30L Snub Nose – PET pressure fermenter from Keg King
The Apollo Snub Nose from Keg King is a conical PET fermenter with a closed bottom that lets you ferment, carbonate and serve under pressure in the same tank. It is made in Springvale, Australia, using advanced PET technology and blow moulding. Every Apollo tank is pressure tested at 5 bar at the factory and withstands up to 8 bar.
What you can do with the Apollo Snub Nose
- Ferment under pressure. You need a spunding valve to regulate the pressure, or an alternative pressure relief valve.
- Sanitarily dry hop - Use the dry hop port in the lid
- Carbonate the beer in the fermenter - pressure rated for use up to 2.4 bar and pressure tested up to 5 bar
- Monitor internal temperature with a centered thermowell for accurate temperature readings
- Tap directly from the tank - Connect a tap and use the Apollo as a keg
- Transfer oxygen-free in a closed system from fermenter to keg
- For normal fermentation without pressure, you can use one ball lock valve for blow-off, or insert an airlock into the port for the pressure relief valve.

Important: PET plastic tanks must not be exposed to hot liquids above 50°C. This can soften and deform the tank.

How much pressure can the Apollo 30L handle?
The tank is rated for use up to 2.4 bar and pressure tested at 5 bar at the factory.
What pressure should I ferment at?
A typical pressure for pressure fermentation is 0.7–1 bar. Let the first couple of days ferment without pressure, and control the pressure with a spunding valve.
Can I use the tank without pressure?
Yes. For normal fermentation you can use one ball lock valve for blow-off, or fit an airlock in the pressure relief valve port.
How much can I fill the tank?
For pressure fermentation, leave 15–20 % of the tank empty as headspace.
Can the tank handle hot water?
No. PET tanks must not be exposed to liquids above 50 °C, as the tank can soften and deform. So do not clean it with hot water.
