Description
Brew Monk S40 sparge water heater with integrated pump – 35 litres
The Brew Monk S40 is a sparge water heater for home brewers who want better control and higher efficiency when sparging the grain bed. After mashing, plenty of sugar is still left in the malt, and correct sparging at the right temperature gives a better yield.
The integrated pump transfers hot sparge water straight to the brewing kettle and spreads it over the grain bed. That makes brew day more comfortable, with less handling of hot water. The digital display shows the temperature, and the 2500 W element heats quickly and holds a stable temperature. With an effective capacity of 35 litres you have plenty of sparge water, even for larger brews.
The S40 comes with a 2 metre silicone hose and is ready to use. For even more uniform distribution it can be combined with the Brew Monk Mash and Sparge Water Manifold, sold separately. The kettle is made from stainless steel and has a tempered glass lid.
Important: the S40 is only intended for heating sparge water and must not be used as a brewing kettle.

Frequently asked questions about the Brew Monk S40
What temperature should the sparge water be?
Brewshop recommends sparge water at 75–78 °C. Do not go above 80 °C, as that can extract tannins from the husks.
Can I use the S40 as a brewing kettle?
No. The S40 is only intended for heating sparge water and must not be used for mashing or boiling.
How do I spread the sparge water evenly?
Use the Brew Monk Mash and Sparge Water Manifold, which distributes the water over the whole grain bed. Add a little at a time and keep no more than a couple of centimetres of water above the grain bed.
What is the difference between the S40 and the S25?
Both have an integrated pump and a 2500 W element. The S40 has an effective capacity of 35 litres, the S25 22 litres.
