Fairytale ALE is a robust British-style base malt from Bonsak Gårdsmalteri in Skogn in Trøndelag, Norway. It is made from low-protein two-row spring barley of the Fairytale variety. The malt is fully modified and so friable that you can crush some of the kernels between your fingers. It gives a clear, full-bodied and malty wort with distinct notes of caramel, toffee, honey, waffle batter and plenty of bready character.

About Bonsak Gårdsmalteri
Bonsak Gårdsmalteri is a farm maltings in Skogn in Trøndelag, Norway. The farmer follows the grain all the way from the field, through the malthouse and on to the brewer. The maltings combines traditional craft with modern technology and uses floor malting, a traditional method that according to Bonsak gives more depth of flavour and aroma than industrial pneumatic malting. The malt is delivered fresh.

What is Fairytale ALE Malt used for?
As a base malt in beers where you want a full malt character, especially British and other top-fermented styles. It gives a clear, full-bodied wort with notes of caramel, toffee, honey and bread. The Bonsak Usage Table shows which styles Bonsak recommends it for.
What is the difference between Fairytale ALE and Fairytale Pils?
Fairytale ALE is 6–9 EBC and gives more caramel, toffee and bready character. Fairytale Pils is paler, 3–4 EBC, and gives a cleaner, crisper wort.
What is floor-malted malt?
In floor malting the grain germinates in a layer on a floor and is turned during the process, instead of in large, enclosed industrial plants. Bonsak uses this traditional method because, according to the maltings, it gives more depth of flavour and aroma.

Yes. Fairytale ALE is also sold per 100 g, so you can buy exactly the amount your recipe needs.
