Frequently asked questions about the 11 L glass carboy
How big is the opening?
The opening has a diameter of 31 mm. Choose a bung that covers 31 mm, with a hole if you want to fit an airlock.
Can I pour hot wort or hot water into the carboy?
No. The glass does not tolerate large temperature swings. Avoid temperatures above 40 °C and below 4 °C.
Why choose glass over plastic?
Glass is oxygen-tight and does not scratch in ways that give bacteria a place to hide. It is therefore well suited to long-term ageing of wine, mead and sour beer.
How do I clean a carboy?
Use a long, bent carboy brush and an alkaline cleaner, rinse well and sanitize before use.
