When do I need a 20–30 °P hydrometer?
When the original gravity is higher than a standard hydrometer covers well, for example in strong beer styles. For lighter beers, 0–10 or 10–20 °P is a better fit.
Why does the hydrometer have a thermometer?
The reading is affected by the temperature of the sample. With the thermometer and correction scale you can adjust the value.
What is Plato?
Degrees Plato express the sugar content of wort as a percentage by weight. 20 °P is roughly 20 g of extract per 100 g of wort.
