Description
Idaho 7 Cryo Hops 25 g – concentrated lupulin with tropical fruit and citrus
Idaho 7 Cryo Hops is concentrated lupulin from the Idaho 7 hop variety, also known as 007: The Golden Hop. The pellets give intense hop flavour and aroma with minimal vegetal flavour from the plant material. The aroma profile is berry, bubblegum, citrus, stone fruit and tropical fruit. Cryo Hops are particularly well suited to hop-driven beers such as IPA and NEIPA. The pack contains 25 g with 21.5% alpha acid.
What are Cryo Hops?
The name comes from the Greek word "kryos", meaning frost. Cryo Hops is a cryogenic process from Yakima Chief Hops that separates whole hop cones into two components: concentrated lupulin and bract. Each component is kept cold in a nitrogen-rich environment throughout the process, from separation to pelleting.
Cryo Hops pellets are the concentrated lupulin, containing resins and aromatic oils. This lets brewers dose large amounts of alpha acids and oils without introducing astringent flavours or vegetal material. Cryo Hops can be used wherever regular hops are used, but are best suited to the whirlpool or hop stand and to dry hopping.
Benefits of Cryo Hops
- Nearly double the resin content of traditional T-90 hop pellets
- Intense hop flavour and aroma
- Reduced grassy and vegetal character
- Less hop trub, giving more beer per batch and a lower cost per litre of finished beer
