The John Guest Tube to Hose Stem 5/16" – 5/16" has a stem with a 5/16" outer diameter at one end and a hose barb for 5/16" inner diameter hose at the other. It lets you connect ordinary barbed hose to a John Guest push-fit system, for example in beer or gas lines.
