Use in brewing
Muscovado is used in the kettle in dark and strong beers such as porter, stout, Belgian ales and barley wine, where it adds molasses and caramel flavour as well as fermentable sugar. Pure sugar adds alcohol but no body, so it should be one part of the recipe rather than a replacement for malt.
