Description

Speidel Ball Lock Transfer Tool – pressure transfer from Speidel fermenters

The Speidel Ball Lock Transfer Tool from Norcal lets you use the compressed gas of your choice, such as CO2 or nitrogen, to rack from a Speidel plastic fermenter or storage tank to another vessel. There is no need to lift or tilt the fermenter, and you can transfer to a cornelius keg without letting oxygen in.

The tool comes with ball lock quick disconnects for both CO2 and beer. The racking cane is adjustable and fits Speidel plastic fermenters of 20, 30 and 60 litres. It does not fit the 120-litre fermenter, as the cane is not long enough.

Features

  • All metal components are 304 stainless steel
  • Racking cane with an overall length of 29" (approx. 74 cm)
  • Draw tube is 0.5" (12.7 mm) outer diameter and accepts any hose with a 0.5" inner diameter
  • Pass-through compression fitting slides up and down the draw tube to suit the height of each Speidel model
  • High-temperature O-ring inside the compression fitting prevents liquid and gas from passing through
  • The tool body slides along the racking cane and holds the custom-drilled #8.5 stopper (included) in place

In the video below, Jaybird demonstrates the NorCal Brewing Solutions Carboy Transfer Tool using pressurised gas to transfer to another vessel, including oxygen-free transfer to a cornelius keg.

Frequently asked questions about the Speidel Ball Lock Transfer Tool

Which Speidel fermenters does the tool fit?

It fits Speidel plastic fermenters and storage tanks of 20, 30 and 60 litres. The racking cane is too short for the 120-litre fermenter.

Which gas can I use?

You can use the compressed gas you prefer, such as CO2 or nitrogen. The gas connects via a ball lock quick disconnect.

How much pressure can I use?

Use low pressure. Speidel plastic fermenters are not pressure vessels, and only a little pressure is needed to push the beer across.
