Description

3L fermentation jar for mead, kombucha and kimchi

This 3L fermentation jar is a simple and practical kit for those who want to ferment on a smaller scale. It is well suited for small batches of mead, kombucha, kimchi, sauerkraut and other fermented products.

The jar holds 3.1 litres and gives you a good view of the fermentation. The clear glass makes it easy to keep an eye on the contents, and the size fits well on the kitchen counter, in a cupboard or in the fridge.

The kit comes with a mini airlock, which releases CO₂ during fermentation while helping to protect the contents from unwanted air and contamination. The airlock is only about 3.8 cm tall, which makes it practical where space is limited.

The self-adhesive thermometer makes it easy to keep track of the temperature during fermentation. This is especially useful for mead and kombucha, where a stable temperature can make a big difference to the result.

Important for mead: Mead can have a vigorous primary fermentation at the start. We therefore recommend using a blow-off tube on the airlock and making slightly less than 3 litres at a time, so there is extra room in the jar. If the jar is too full and fermentation is active, it can blow out through the airlock.

You can also buy an extra lid for canning or regular storage if you want to use the jar for more than one purpose.
