Description
12L Cornelius keg from AEB – ball lock
A new 12 litre cornelius keg with ball lock posts from AEB, Italy. The keg suits smaller batches, or splitting one batch across several kegs. Brewshop is the Norwegian distributor of the original AEB cornelius kegs.
Quality from AEB
For more than 30 years AEB has manufactured cornelius kegs in Italy for companies such as Coca-Cola and Pepsi. All AEB kegs are passivated to make the steel resistant to corrosion and chemical attack. They are individually inspected at every stage of production, cleaned and pressure tested to 130 PSI / 9.1 bar. Each keg has a unique serial number and is traceable through production.
AEB kegs have more rubber on the top and bottom than many other kegs, for example from Kegland. This gives the steel better protection if the keg is dropped. The diameter is 219 mm (+/- 2 mm) including the rubber.

Cornelius keg or bottles?
Bottles mean a lot of washing and filling and often give inconsistent carbonation. With a keg you clean one keg instead of many bottles, and it is easy to get the carbonation right for every batch. If the carbonation is off, simply adjust the pressure up or down. The keg is easy to clean, especially with a Keg Washer, and it can be filled straight from the fermenter without racking first. Consider a Bouncer Filter on the hose to keep sediment out of the keg.
Frequently asked questions about the 12L cornelius keg
When does a 12 litre keg make sense?
For smaller batches, or when you want to split a batch in two and, for example, dry hop or flavour half of it differently. The shorter keg is also handy where height is limited.
How long does it take to carbonate beer in a keg?
A simple method is 1 bar for one week at 3–5 °C, with the gas connected the whole time. The beer cannot become more carbonated than the pressure allows.
How full can I fill the keg?
Do not fill above the gas tube. Otherwise beer can flow back into the regulator if the CO2 cylinder runs empty.
How do I avoid oxygen in the beer?
Fill the keg with CO2 and vent the pressure through the relief valve two to three times, both before and after filling.
