Description
EasyDens digital hydrometer from Anton Paar
EasyDens is a compact digital instrument that measures density and sugar content with a sample of only 2 ml. Homebrewers and microbreweries use it to read SG, °Brix and extract in °Plato, and it works just as well for beer as for wine, spirits and juice. Results are stored in a dedicated smartphone app via Bluetooth. Anton Paar has decades of experience with density and concentration meters for the beverage industry.
Features
- Monitors fermentation so you can track progress on your smartphone
- Measures density, SG, extract in %w/w and sugar in °Brix, and calculates alcohol in %ABV
- Values are already temperature-corrected, so you need no tables or conversions
- A measurement takes less than a minute, including filling and cleaning
- Needs only approx. 2 ml of sample, so you lose very little beer
- You can clean, calibrate and re-adjust EasyDens yourself with deionised water
- Measurement data can be saved and exported from the app to PC or Mac
- Glass measuring cell based on the oscillating U-tube principle
- IP65 protection
How to measure alcohol in beer
To read the alcohol content of beer, you need to log the SG before and after fermentation. This is easy in the Brew Meister app, which calculates the alcohol from the readings.
EasyDens can be sanitized with ordinary technical alcohol such as isopropanol.

Frequently asked questions about EasyDens
What is the difference between EasyDens and a regular hydrometer?
A regular hydrometer needs a large sample and is read at 20 °C. EasyDens needs only approx. 2 ml, gives temperature-corrected values and stores the results in the app.
Can I measure alcohol directly in beer?
In beer, the alcohol is calculated from the SG measured before and after fermentation, which you log in the Brew Meister app. Alcohol in %v/v is measured directly in spirits.
How do I clean and calibrate the instrument?
You clean, calibrate and re-adjust EasyDens yourself with deionised water. The instrument can be sanitized with technical alcohol such as isopropanol.
Which phones work with the app?
The app is available for Android and iOS, and data is transferred via Bluetooth Low Energy. See the table for version requirements.
