Description

High Voltage 500 g – thermotolerant dry yeast (kveik) from WHC Lab

High Voltage from WHC Lab is a thermotolerant dry yeast that ferments cleanly at considerably higher temperatures than traditional brewing strains. It produces minimal esters, letting hops and malt come through clearly, and can be used for a wide range of styles, including lager and pseudo-lager. The 500 g pack is intended for breweries.

Please note: This product is only available in Norway.

A high fermentation temperature gives fast fermentation and shorter tank time. At the same time less cooling is needed, which means lower energy use and a smaller carbon footprint for the brewery. The thermotolerant yeast also suits climates and production settings where low temperatures are hard to maintain, and gives consistent results batch after batch.

Suitable for

Amber Ale, Bock, Brown Ale, Double IPA, German Lager, Helles, Imperial Stout, IPA, Kölsch, Lager, NEIPA, Pale Ale, Pilsner, Porter, Red Ale, Stout and West Coast IPA.

Frequently asked questions about High Voltage 500 g

What temperature should High Voltage ferment at?

The recommended fermentation temperature is 31–35 °C. At 34–37 °C fermentation is typically complete in 2–3 days.

How much yeast should I use?

WHC Lab states 30–100 g per hl of wort. Always check final gravity before packaging, even though fermentation is fast.

Can I brew lager with High Voltage?

Yes, you can brew a clean lager-style beer, often called pseudo-lager, fermented warm and fast. The yeast produces few esters, so malt and hops take centre stage.

Can the yeast be used after the best before date?

Yes. Dry yeast kept in cold storage stays good well past the date. This pack is sold as outlet with best before 04/26.
