Description

Iodine solution 30ml

An iodine test is an ingenious and simple way to check if mashing is complete and all starches have been converted to fermentable sugars.

Take a small wort sample and place it on a light surface so that you can easily see a color change. Let it cool to room temperature, around 20 degrees Celsius. Add a few drops of iodine to the wort, and you will immediately see if mashing is complete: If the color turns blue, black, violet or red, there is still starch remaining and the mashing process must continue. No color change (yellow to amber) indicates that all starch has been converted to fermentable sugar.
