Description
Blichmann Kettle Whirlpool Kit with 1.5" Tri-Clamp butterfly valve
Whirlpool kit from Blichmann Engineering for creating an effective whirlpool in the brew kettle. The kit comes complete with a 1.5" Tri-Clamp butterfly valve for precise flow control, a weldless bulkhead and a whirlpool tube. Wort is pumped out of the kettle and back in through the whirlpool tube, so hops, hot break and other solids collect in a cone in the centre of the kettle bottom and the wort becomes clearer.

Frequently asked questions about the Blichmann Kettle Whirlpool Kit
What else do I need besides the kit?
A pump, hose fittings and high-temperature hose. The wort is drawn from the bottom of the kettle, through the pump and back in via the whirlpool valve.
How long should I whirlpool?
Blichmann recommends about 5 minutes, or until the wort reaches maximum rotation. Then let it stand for 15–20 minutes so the solids settle.
Do I need to drill a hole in the kettle?
Yes. The kit mounts with a weldless bulkhead in a 20.64 mm hole, in kettles with a wall thickness up to 4.7 mm.
Can I whirlpool with an immersion chiller?
Yes. Blichmann notes that whirlpooling with an immersion chiller in the wort increases heat transfer and chills faster.
