Description

LalBrew Nottingham Ale 500g – versatile English ale yeast

LalBrew Nottingham from Lallemand is an English-style ale yeast known for high performance and versatility. It gives a neutral to slightly fruity profile and ferments consistently across different conditions, which is why it is often used as a house strain for many beer styles. The 500 g pack is intended for breweries and larger batches.

Please note: This product is only available in Norway.

Traditional styles brewed with Nottingham include pale ale, amber, porter, stout and barley wine. The yeast can also be used for golden ale, kölsch, lager-style beers, IPA and imperial stout. Nottingham is stress tolerant and a good choice for high gravity wort, sours and restarting stuck fermentations.

Frequently asked questions about LalBrew Nottingham Ale 500g

Which beer styles does Nottingham suit?

Nottingham suits most ales, from pale ale, amber and IPA to porter, stout and barley wine. The neutral profile lets malt and hops come through clearly.

How much yeast do I need?

Lallemand recommends 50–100 g per hectolitre of wort, so 500 g covers 500–1000 litres. High gravity and acidic worts may need a higher pitch rate and yeast nutrient.

Can I use Nottingham for lager-style beer?

Yes. At low fermentation temperatures, down towards 10 °C, Nottingham can produce lager-style beer. Lallemand states this can be done in nine days with all-malt wort.

How do I store an opened pack?

Store the yeast dry below 4 °C. An opened pack should be resealed and used within three days, unless it is vacuum sealed again immediately after opening.
