Description

Lemondrop hop pellets – American aroma hop with lemon and green tea

Lemondrop is an American aroma hop from Hopsteiner, crossed from Cascade and a USDA male (USDA 19058). It is fruity with notes of lemon, mint, green tea and melon. The citrus and light herbal notes suit sessionable beers such as IPA, APA and saison. According to Hopsteiner, ale yeast brings out the sweeter side of the hop, while it is delicate enough for pilsners and lagers. The pack contains 100 g of pellets.

Typical values for the variety

Hopsteiner gives these ranges for Lemondrop. The values vary from harvest to harvest. The alpha acid for the lot you receive is stated in the product title.

  • Alpha acid: typically 5.0–7.0%
  • Beta acid: typically 4.0–6.0%
  • Cohumulone: 28–34% of alpha acids
  • Total oil: 1.5–2.0 ml/100 g
  • Origin: USA

Storage

The hops are vacuum-packed and stored in a freezer room at −18 °C, and the quality keeps well for several years. We prioritise hops from the last two harvests, but older hops can be just as good when they have been stored correctly. Once the pack is opened, seal it airtight and put it in the freezer.
