Description
Aeration coil 1/2" NPT – wort aerator in 316 stainless steel
Aeration coil, also called a wort aerator, for aerating the wort as you transfer it to the fermenter. The wort passes through the coil and mixes with air on its way into the vessel. Yeast needs oxygen at the start of fermentation, and good aeration gives a healthier start.
Technical data
- Material: 316 stainless steel
- Thread: 1/2" NPT
- Use: aerating wort during transfer to the fermenter
Frequently asked questions about the aeration coil
Why should I aerate the wort?
Yeast uses oxygen to multiply at the start of fermentation. Boiled wort contains little oxygen, so aerating before pitching gives the yeast better conditions.
How do I connect the aeration coil?
The aeration coil has a 1/2" NPT thread. You need an adapter or hose barb with 1/2" NPT to connect it to your hose or outlet.
What is the alternative to an aeration coil?
You can also add oxygen with an oxygenation stone and an oxygen regulator.
