The Nostalgie and Baroko faucets from LUKR in Pilsen, Czech Republic, are known for their distinctive design and pouring qualities. The side-pour faucet is a Central European design that you will find in Czech pubs that take their beer seriously. Pilsen is the birthplace of pilsner, and the side-pour faucet suits pilsner because it gives plenty of dense, wet foam.
How a side-pour faucet works
Unlike vertical faucets, which have a piston valve, side-pour faucets are built around a ball valve. You open the faucet for more beer and partly close it for more wet foam. A small screen inside the faucet aerates the beer and thickens the foam. The faucet is longer than ordinary beer taps, and the spout should be lowered into the beer as the glass fills.
The faucet brings out the spicy hop aromas of Saaz in Pilsner Urquell. A perfectly poured Pilsner Urquell has a thick head of dense, wet foam that protects the beer and seals in freshness and flavour.

Open the faucet partly (10–20 degrees) to get a rich foam, then open it fully to pour beer under the foam.
