LUKR Nostalgie Side-Pour Faucet - brass, patina
US Standard Shank: Through-fitting with US threads. Also fits tap towers with US threads.
Nostalgie and Baroko taps from LUKR in Pilsen, Czech Republic, are known worldwide for their unique design and special pouring capabilities. These faucets are instruments for beer artists, and can positively influence the taste of draught beer.
The side-pour tap is a Central European creation, and you will see it in any Czech pub that truly cares about beer. This is after all the birthplace of pilsner, and the side-pour tap is ideal for pouring pilsner because it ensures there is always plenty of dense, wet foam.
The tap brings out the spicy, hoppy aromas of Saaz in Pilsner Urquell, and its special design allows you to pour the beer quickly, with wet foam on top and golden pilsner underneath.
The faucet is longer than regular taps, and should be submerged into the beer as the glass fills. Unlike vertical taps, which have a piston valve, side-pour taps are built around a ball valve. You open the tap for more beer and partially close it for more wet foam. Inside the tap there is a small filter, which aerates the beer and makes the foam thicker.
A perfectly poured Pilsner Urquell should have a thick head of dense, wet foam to protect the beer, and seal in freshness and taste.
Tip: Partially open the tap (10-20 degrees) to get a rich foam, before fully opening the tap to pour beer under the foam.
