Description
Monster Mill MM-3 – three-roller malt mill with base and hopper
The Monster Mill MM-3 is a three-roller malt mill for homebrewers who want to crush their own malt. The kit consists of the MM-3 malt mill, base, hopper, feeler gauge and oil. The mill is drill-driven, and with your own mill you crush the malt just before brewing and control the crush yourself.
How the MM-3 crushes
The MM-3 crushes the grain twice in one pass through the mill. First the grain passes through the fixed gap between the two top rollers, which flattens it slightly. It then passes through the adjustable gap between the drive roller and the bottom roller. The second crush breaks the kernel and frees the starch, while keeping the husk as intact as possible.
The drive shaft and the other shafts are integral to the rollers instead of being screwed into the ends. This means the mill can be run both clockwise and counter-clockwise.
Drill and use
You need a powerful, good-quality electric drill to drive the mill, for example a DeWalt or equivalent with a 1/2" chuck. The MM-3 is made for homebrewing and is not recommended for commercial use.

Frequently asked questions about the Monster Mill MM-3
What drill do I need?
A powerful, good-quality electric drill with a 1/2" chuck, for example a DeWalt or equivalent.
Can I adjust the crush?
Yes. The gap between the drive roller and the bottom roller is adjustable from 0 to 1.8 mm (0–0.070"). How fine you should crush depends on your equipment. BIAB needs a finer crush, while a Speidel Braumeister, for example, needs a coarser one.
How much malt does the hopper hold?
The hopper is made of galvanized steel and holds 5 kg of malt, and the mill crushes about 3.6 kg per minute.
Why should I crush my own malt?
Once malt is crushed, it starts to oxidize and lose flavour and aroma. With your own mill you crush just before brewing and control the crush yourself.
