The PolyKeg PRO 12L is a good size for specialty beers that do not sell in large volumes. PolyKeg® from Italy makes one-way PET kegs. According to the manufacturer, PolyKeg® developed the technology in 2005 that other suppliers use today, and has developed it further since. The barrier against O2, CO2 and light gives the beer good protection.
The PRO series is designed with a focus on sustainability, product protection, safety and simple logistics.
PolyKeg® BIK System (Bag in Keg)
BIK is exclusive to PolyKeg®, is available with all six valve types and has these features:
- A bag with an internal spear gives even flow during filling and ensures complete and correct dispensing without excess foam. According to the manufacturer, this means 1–2 litres more beer sold per keg.
- The bag is rinsed and pressure-treated so residual oxygen is very low and hygiene is good. The keg is ready to fill without further treatment.
- The bag is folded so it opens gradually during filling, without stress or damage to the film.
- The bag is made from a multilayer film that protects against O2, CO2 and light and resists tearing and punctures.
- The spear and the folded bag allow the keg to be filled upright or upside down, with manual or automatic filling systems.
- You can also carbonate naturally with sugar in a PolyKeg.
Integrated pressure relief valve
The integrated pressure relief valve (PRV) is exclusive to PolyKeg® and has two main functions:
- It automatically releases pressure above the set value of 5.5 bar throughout the life of the keg, and closes again when the pressure is back within the limit.
- After use, the lever on the valve can easily be removed to release all the pressure in the keg. No extra equipment or staff supervision is needed.
Note: Star San and other acid-based sanitizers can damage the pressure relief valve on the PolyKeg.
Compatibility
PolyKeg® kegs are available with six different valves (A, S, D, G, M and K, which is KeyKeg compatible) and fit the most common filling and dispensing systems. This makes the switch from other kegs, one-way or returnable, to PolyKeg® simple and without new investment. The freedom to choose the valve also gives breweries access to new markets where customers require a specific coupling.

PolyKeg®, with or without a bag, needs no internal cleaning. The keg is delivered pre-purged with nitrogen, vacuumed and pressurised with 0.5 bar CO2, ready to fill. This gives low oxygen pick-up during filling.
