The PolyKeg PRO 24L is a single-use PET keg from the Italian producer PolyKeg, with an internal bag and a K valve compatible with KeyKeg couplers. The size is a compromise between handling and price per litre: it is easier to lift than a 30 litre keg, and cheaper per litre of beer than a 20 litre keg. Sold individually.
The keg has a barrier against O2, CO2 and light that protects the beer. The PRO series is developed with product protection, safety and logistics in mind.
BIK system with integrated dip tube for less foam
BIK (Bag In Keg) is PolyKeg's system with a bag inside the keg. It is available with all six valve types and has the following features:
- The bag has an internal dip tube that gives steady flow during filling and complete, correct dispensing without unnecessary foam. According to PolyKeg, this means 1–2 litres more beer sold per keg.
- The bag undergoes a special rinsing and pressure treatment that leaves very little residual oxygen and good hygienic conditions. The keg is therefore ready to fill without further treatment.
- The bag is folded so that it opens gradually during filling, without tension or damage to the film.
- The bag is made from a multi-layer film that protects against O2, CO2 and light, and gives increased resistance to breakage and punctures.
- The dip tube and folded bag allow the keg to be filled upright or upside down, with manual or automatic filling systems.
- Natural carbonation with sugar is also possible in PolyKeg.
Integrated pressure relief valve
The integrated pressure relief valve (PRV) has two main functions:
- It automatically releases pressure above the set value of 5.5 bar, throughout the life of the keg. The valve closes automatically once the pressure is back within the set value.
- After use, the lever on the pressure relief valve can easily be removed to release all pressure from the keg. No extra equipment or staff presence is needed while the pressure is released.
Note: Star San and other acid-based sanitizers can damage the pressure relief valve.
Compatibility
PolyKeg kegs are available with six different valves (A, S, D, G, M and K, which is KeyKeg compatible) and suit the most common filling and dispensing systems. This keg has a K valve. Switching from other kegs, single-use or returnable, therefore requires no special investment.
The choice of valve type also gives the brewery access to markets where the customer requires kegs for a particular coupler.
