Quick Fix anti-foam hose kit for kegerators – less foam without lowering the pressure
Does your kegerator come with 5/16" (8 mm) lines, and does the beer foam a lot when you pour? Many people lower the pressure to deal with the foam, but that is far from ideal. The beer can lose carbonation over time, and the pressure has to be adjusted constantly.
A better solution is to replace the wide 5/16" line with a thinner 3/16" line with a 3 mm inside diameter, known as an anti-foam line. It adds resistance between the keg and the tap and reduces foaming considerably without affecting the carbonation of the beer. This kit contains what you need to make the switch.

How to fit the hose kit
- At the keg coupler: Connect the thin 3/16" line directly into the existing 5/16" push-fit connection on the ball lock disconnect (or 1/4" FFL – 5/16" push-fit) using the 5/16" to 3/16" reducer.
- At the tap tower: Cut the existing 5/16" line and connect the 3/16" line with the 5/16" to 3/16" adapter.
If it still foams, check that all connections are tight and that the beer is not over-carbonated.
Frequently asked questions about the anti-foam hose kit
Why does my beer foam when I pour?
Common causes are too high pressure, a beer line that is too short or too wide, warm beer or a warm tap, a blocked dip tube or over-carbonated beer.
How long should the beer line be?
Brewshop recommends at least 1.5–2 metres of beer line with a 3/16" outside diameter. The kit includes 2 metres.
What pressure should I serve at?
A serving pressure of around 0.8 bar works on most systems.
Do I need to lower the pressure after changing the line?
No, that is the point of the kit. The thin line provides the resistance needed, so you can keep the correct pressure on the keg.
