Frequently asked questions about the Speidel FD-2.5B-ZKG 625L

Can I ferment lagers without a cold room?

Yes. The tank has a double cooling jacket on the cylinder. With coolant from an external chiller, bottom-fermented beers can be fermented and matured outside a cold room. The chiller is not included.

What is the difference between the FD-1.2B-ZKG and the FD-2.5B-ZKG?

The equipment is the same. The FD-2.5B-ZKG is rated for up to 2.5 bar, while the FD-1.2B-ZKG is rated for up to 1.2 bar. The 2.5 bar version also has a curved top with a pressure dome NW 400. A higher permitted pressure gives more headroom when you spund and want to retain more CO2 in the beer.

How is the pressure controlled?

The tank has a T-adapter with a CO2 valve and a bung pressure regulator (Pico) G3/4". The safety valve prevents the pressure from exceeding the working pressure of the tank.

What does the tank cost, and what is the lead time?

The tank is made to order and shipped directly from Speidel. Price and lead time are available on request.
