Description

Strata 100 g hop pellets – aroma hop with passion fruit and strawberry

Strata is an American aroma hop from Indie Hops, the first variety they released in collaboration with the Oregon State University hop breeding programme. It was bred from an open-pollinated Perle plant. Strata has a complex aroma of tropical fruit and citrus, with passion fruit, grapefruit, strawberry and melon, backed by undertones of spice, fresh sage and a dank character. The 100 g pack is suited to homebrewers.

Frequently asked questions about Strata

What aroma does Strata give?

Strata gives tropical fruit and citrus, with passion fruit, grapefruit, strawberry and melon. Underneath are spice, fresh sage and a dank character that becomes more pronounced with dry hopping.

Which beer styles suit Strata?

Strata is especially well suited to IPA and pale ale, both as a single hop and together with Mosaic or Columbus.

How high is the alpha acid in Strata?

Alpha acid varies from year to year, and the figure for the lot you receive is stated in the product title. Use that figure when calculating bitterness.

How should I store the hops?

Store the hops cold, dark and airtight, preferably in a freezer. We keep our hops vacuum-packed in a freezer room at −18 °C, and the quality holds for several years. We prioritise hops from the two most recent harvests, but older hops can be just as good if stored correctly. Read more in the article on hop shelf life and storage from Yakima Valley Hops (PDF).
