Description

Superdelic 5kg hop pellets

Superdelic is an aroma hop from New Zealand, released by NZ Hops. It is a triploid variety, crossed in 2012 by Dr Ron Beatson in partnership with Plant and Food Research. Its unique oil composition gives complex aromas of red berries, tropical fruit, sweet citrus and candy. Superdelic is particularly well suited to hazy and fruity beers such as NEIPA and pale ale. This 5 kg pack of pellets is intended for breweries and others brewing larger volumes.

Please note: This product is only available in Norway.

Characteristics

  • Origin: New Zealand, NZ Hops
  • Use: aroma hop, strong in biotransformation
  • Aroma: red berries, tropical fruit, sweet citrus and candy
  • Beer styles: NEIPA, pale ale, fruit-forward IPA and New Zealand pilsner
  • Pairs well with Citra, Simcoe, Nelson Sauvin, Motueka and Riwaka

How to use Superdelic

Superdelic shows strong biotransformation properties, meaning that when the hops are added during active fermentation, the interaction with the yeast adds extra fruitiness and depth. In brewery trials it has given clear notes of ripe mango, sweet berries and citrus. It works both as a single hop and together with other fruity varieties.

Frequently asked questions about Superdelic

What aroma does Superdelic give?

Superdelic gives red berries, tropical fruit, sweet citrus and a candy-like note. When dry hopped during active fermentation, you may also get ripe mango and sweet berries.

When should I add Superdelic?

Superdelic works well for dry hopping during active fermentation, where biotransformation adds extra fruitiness. It can also be used late in the boil and in the whirlpool.

How high is the alpha acid in Superdelic?

This 2026 lot has 10% alpha acid. Yakima Valley Hops gives a typical range of 9.0–10.5% for the variety. Alpha acid varies from year to year, so use the figure for the lot when calculating bitterness.

How should I store the hops?

Store the hops cold, dark and airtight, preferably in a freezer. Seal opened packs tightly, ideally by vacuum sealing, to preserve the aroma.

Is Superdelic available in a smaller pack?

Yes, Superdelic is also sold in a 100 g pack for homebrewers.
