Frequently asked questions about the hydrometer test jar
Will my hydrometer fit a 25 cm test jar?
The hydrometer must float freely without touching the bottom. Check the length of your hydrometer. A 36 cm test jar is available for long hydrometers.
At what temperature should the sample be measured?
A standard hydrometer is read at 20 °C. Cool the sample to room temperature before measuring, or correct for the temperature.
How do I know fermentation is finished?
Fermentation is finished when the hydrometer shows the same reading 2–3 days in a row.
