Description

Tilt Hydrometer & Thermometer – wireless fermentation monitoring

Tilt is a wireless hydrometer and thermometer that floats in the fermenter and sends specific gravity (SG) and temperature via Bluetooth to your phone or tablet. You follow the fermentation without opening the lid.

The Tilt Hydrometer has 100% of its logic built into the device itself, and does not rely on data being uploaded to a cloud-based server to function.

Features

The new, updated version of Tilt:

  • stronger signal and better range
  • upgraded sensors provide increased precision
  • choice between Fahrenheit and Celsius
  • lower power consumption - more brews, fewer batteries
  • uses CR123A battery. Lasts for approx. 12 months (24 months in sleep mode)

Technical data

SG precision is +/- 0.002 within Tilt's range between 0.990 and 1.120.

Thermometer precision is +/- 0.5ºC.

Tilt is compatible with both iPhone/iPad and Android smartphone/tablet. The app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and Google Play.

How to use Tilt

Tilt should be stored upright when not in use, otherwise it will turn on and drain the battery.

Note: To use multiple Tilts simultaneously for different batches, you must have a different color for each batch. The app does not work with multiple Tilts of the same color at the same time.

Comes pre-calibrated and with battery included. Download the app, sanitize the Tilt, drop it into the fermentation tank, and everything is ready to monitor on your smartphone/tablet, or on a PC with, for example, Tilt Pi.

If you need to change the battery, it must be a battery that weighs approx. 16.3g. Energizer works perfectly, while Duracell is too heavy and will cause the Tilt to go into sleep mode.

Food grade approved

The Tilt Hydrometer is made of durable plastic that withstands large temperature fluctuations and high pressure. It is approved for use with both food products and medical equipment.

Frequently asked questions about the Tilt Hydrometer

Do I need to open the fermenter to take a reading?

No. Tilt floats in the wort and sends gravity and temperature wirelessly to the app, so you can follow the fermentation without opening the lid.

Can I use several Tilts at the same time?

Yes, but each batch needs its own colour. The app does not work with several Tilts of the same colour at the same time. Tilt is available in black, red, blue, yellow, green, purple and orange.

What battery does Tilt use?

Tilt uses a CR123A battery that lasts about 12 months, or 24 months in sleep mode. A replacement battery must weigh about 16.3 g. Energizer works, while Duracell is too heavy and makes the Tilt go into sleep mode.

Does Tilt work in a stainless steel fermenter?

Stainless steel weakens the wireless signal. For steel tanks, the Tilt Pro Mini is designed for a longer range.

How do I know fermentation is finished?

When the gravity stays the same two to three days in a row, fermentation is normally finished. With Tilt you see this in the graph without taking samples.
