Frequently asked questions about the BIAB starter kit
What is Brew In A Bag?
BIAB is a brewing method where the malt is mashed in a bag inside the brew kettle. After the mash you lift the bag out and boil the wort in the same kettle, so you only need one kettle.
What else do I need to brew?
You need equipment for fermentation, cleaning and sanitising, and bottling or kegging. The Starter Kit Basic contains this. You also need malt, hops and yeast.
How fine should the malt be crushed for BIAB?
BIAB handles a finer crush than many other methods, because the bag holds back the grain.
How do I chill the wort?
The kit has a 16 m stainless steel immersion chiller. Place it in the boiling wort for the last 15 minutes so it is sanitised, then connect it to cold water with the John Guest quick connect.
