John Guest fittings – push-fit connectors and tubing for beer and CO2
John Guest makes push-fit connectors that attach to the tubing without tools, clamps or sealant. Here you will find grey acetal John Guest fittings for beer lines, CO2 and drinking water, in 1/4", 5/16", 3/8" and 1/2", with adapters to ball lock, taps and regulators, and matching LLDPE tubing.
How to choose the right John Guest fitting
Always measure the outside diameter of the tubing. John Guest fittings are in inch sizes, and the size refers to the tubing's outside diameter. A 3/8" tube has a 1/4" inside diameter, and a 5/16" tube has a 3/16" inside diameter.
| Need | Fitting |
|---|---|
| Connect the gas line to a ball lock with 1/4" MFL threads | Adapter 5/16" – 1/4" FFL |
| Connect the beer line to a ball lock with 1/4" MFL threads | Adapter 3/8" – 1/4" FFL |
| Connect tubing to a shank, KeyKeg coupler or Lindr (5/8" BSP) | Adapter F 5/8" BSP to 3/8" or to 5/16" |
| Step down to 3/16" anti-foam line | Reducer 3/8" – 3/16", 5/16" – 3/16" or union 1/4" – 3/16" |
| Split CO2 to several kegs | Y-splitter or tee, ideally with a shut-off valve on each line |
| Bends and fixed points | Elbows, stem elbows, plugs and tube-to-hose stems |
The tubing is in the same collection: 3/8" LLDPE tubing for beer, 5/16" for gas, and 1/2" and 10 mm for larger lines. There are also adapters to F 1/2" BSP, F 3/4" BSP, 1/8" BSP, 1/4" BSP and 1/4" NPTF.
Fitting, releasing and cleaning
Cut the tubing square with a tube cutter and push it in until it stops. To release it, press the collet in and pull the tubing out. The Collet Locking Tool makes releasing the fittings easier. Take care with Star San and other acid-based sanitisers, which can damage plastic, and rinse after use.
All John Guest fittings are made and assembled in the UK. DMfit fittings in the same inch sizes are under DMfit. For breweries and bars, the same John Guest range is under John Guest in PROFF (Norway only).
Frequently asked questions about John Guest fittings
Which tubing fits a 3/8" John Guest fitting?
Tubing with a 3/8" outside diameter, such as 3/8" LLDPE tubing with a 1/4" (6.35 mm) inside diameter. The fitting size refers to the outside diameter, not the inside.
How do I release a John Guest fitting?
Press the collet towards the fitting and pull the tubing out at the same time. If the line is under pressure, shut off the gas and release the pressure first.
Are John Guest and DMfit compatible?
Yes, in the same inch sizes. Keg King, for example, states that the DMfit fittings in the KegMaster kegerator are compatible with John Guest.
Can I use Star San on John Guest fittings?
Acid-based products can damage the plastic over time. Rinse the fittings with clean water after sanitising, and do not leave the solution standing in the lines.
