Description

Project Brew Beer Gas Mini Regulator

A compact regulator developed specifically for use with 21ml Beer Gas cartridges (mix of 70% nitrogen and 30% CO2). With this, you can easily and precisely adjust the pressure between 0-45 PSI / 0-3.1 bar, and it can provide higher pressure than a standard CO2 regulator. Guinness, for example, is tapped at 2-2.4 bar.

The regulator also works excellently for standard 16g non-threaded CO2 cartridges.

Beer gas is used to dispense beer through a creamer / restrictor disc located in a stout tap or stout spout, which can be mounted on Ultratap, Intertap, and Nukatap faucets, among others. The result is a delicious, rich, and creamy stout or porter, just as it should be.

While serving beer with CO2 as the propellant gas typically occurs in the range of around 1 bar (10-15 PSI), higher pressure is required to push the beer through a creamer / restrictor disc to achieve the desired effect. With this regulator, you can safely dispense at 2-3 bar (30-45 PSI) if needed. There is no risk of the beer becoming overcarbonated, as beer gas cartridges only contain 30% CO2. The remaining 70% nitrogen is not soluble in the liquid and therefore does not contribute to increasing the carbonation level (For example, at 3 bar pressure, the CO2 pressure is only 0.9 bar in isolation).

Using Beer Gas:

  1. The beer is carbonated as usual with CO2 to the desired carbonation level. A nitro stout typically lies between 1.2 - 1.7 vol. CO2, i.e., low carbonation.
  2. Disconnect CO2 and mount the mini-regulator with a 21 ml beer gas cartridge.
  3. Adjust the pressure until you get the desired creamy experience.
  4. Fill the glass approx. 75%. Wait 1-2 minutes for the foam to settle. Partially open the tap to slowly top off the glass.

The regulator is of solid construction, manufactured in high-quality brass and stainless steel.

Description in English

A compact regulator for homebrewers developed especially for use with 21ml Beer Gas cartridges (mixed gas of 70% nitrogen and 30% CO2). With this you can easily and precisely adjust the pressure between 0-45 PSI / 0-3.1 bar, and you can set the pressure higher than with a normal CO2 regulator. Guinness for example is poured with 2-2,4 bar pressure.

The regulator also works great for standard non-threaded 16g CO2 cartridges.

Beer gas is used for dispensing beer through a creamer / restrictor disc that sits in a stout tap or stout spout, which can be mounted on Ultratap, Intertap and Nukatap faucets. The result is a cascading pour for deliciously rich and creamy stouts and porters, as it should be.

While serving beer with CO2 and the pressure set at approx. 1 bar (10-15 PSI), higher pressure is required to push the beer through a creamer / restrictor disc to achieve the desired effect. With this regulator, you can safely dispense at 2-3 bar (30-45 PSI) if necessary. There is no risk of the beer becoming overcarbonated, as the beer gas cartridges only contain 30% CO2. The remaining 70% nitrogen is not soluble in the liquid, and therefore does not contribute to increased carbonation.

How to use Beer Gas for dispensing:

  1. The beer is carbonated as usual with CO2 to the desired degree of carbonation. A normal range for nitro stouts is 1.2 - 1.7 CO2 vol.
  2. Disconnect CO2 and fit the mini-regulator with a 21ml beer gas cartridge.
  3. Adjust the pressure until you get the desired creamy experience.
  4. Fill glass about 75% (it’ll be mostly foam). Let foam dissipate 1-2 minutes. Partially open tap to slowly top-off glass.

The regulator is of solid design, manufactured in high quality brass and stainless steel.
